Reduction Mammoplasty
or Breast Reduction

Women with large, pendulous breasts may experience a variety of medical problems caused by being overweight: spine pain, back pain, skin rash with redness in the inframammary fold, and under the bra´s wings. Lack of self-esteem, difficulty in exercising and limitations in life in society (especially in clothing selection) are other problems pointed out by these patients.

Thus, reduction mammoplasty is the surgical intervention designed to reduce size and improve the breast contour, so as to make the breast more proportional to the rest of the body. The surgery removes excess fat and glandular tissue from the breast as well as redundant skin, making the breast smaller, lighter and firmer. Reducing the size of the areola is also possible. The goal is to achieve the proper ratio between the breast and the rest of the body, thereby improving posture and relieving excessive spinal load.
